All walks are at a leisurely pace with numerous stops on route to explain features or to answer questions.
Christchurch Ōtautahi Highlights walk is usually about 2.0 – 2.5 hours and 2.5 – 3.0 km.
Private tours & customised walks
The time and distance for these walks will be arranged to suit the clients.
We specialise in providing a personalised walk experience. Our groups may be from one walker to usually not more than 8 -10 walkers. Advanced booking will usually guarantee a walk.
Walks leave from Rutherford’s Den under the Arts Centre clock tower adjacent to Worcester Boulevard
Online bookings for the Christchurch Ōtautahi Highlights Walk must be completed by 9.00 am on the day of your walk for walks between 1 September and 31 May. Walks in the months of June, July, August must be booked by 8.00 pm on the day prior to the walk. Go to www.walkchristchurch.nz and click on ‘Book Walks’/’Book Now’ button. Payment by credit (Visa/Mastercard)/debit card.
Visit the Den office (from 10.15 am to 2.30 pm) in the Clock tower at the Arts Centre, close to the Rolleston Avenue and Worcester Blvd intersection.

- Go to the Arts Centre (the Den under the clocktower at the Rolleston Avenue end of Worcester Blvd) 10.15 am – 2.30 pm daily. Payment by credit /debit card or cash.
- Book online – go to our website walkchristchurch.nz and book not later than 9.00 am on the day of your walk.
- For on-the-day bookings (subject to places being available) can be made at the Den Office under the Clock tower in the Arts Centre from 10.15 am on the day of the walk. This is only available between 1 September and 31 May
Kerbside parking is limited to a maximum of two hours. It is suggested that you use a parking building. West End (enter off Cashel St –between Montreal St and Bridge of Remembrance) or Christchurch Art Gallery (enter off Gloucester St –near Montreal St corner) are the closest two buildings.
Free parking (up to 3 hours) is often available in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens (enter off Rolleston Ave at Armagh St entry to Gardens).
You should arrive at the Clock tower, The Arts Centre at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure.
