Most frequent questions and answers

All walks are at a leisurely pace with numerous stops on route to explain features or to answer questions.

Ōtautahi Christchurch Highlights Walk is usually about 2 – 2.5 hours and 2.5 – 3 km.

The Arts Centre Guided Walk is usually about 1.5 hours

Private tours & customised walks

The time and distance for these walks will be arranged to suit the clients.

We specialise in providing a personalised walk experience. Our groups may be from one walker to usually not more than 8 – 10 walkers. Advanced booking will usually guarantee a walk.

Walks leave from The Arts Centre’s Clock Tower at 2 Worcester Boulevard, Christchurch.

1 June – 31 August: book online by 6pm on the evening before the walk. No walk-ups.

1 September – 31 May: book online to secure your spot. Walk-ups may be possible, subject to availability.

In person bookings (subject to availability) can be made by visiting the team at The Arts Centre’s Clock Tower, 2 Worcester Boulevard (open daily 10am – 4pm)

We recommend booking online prior to the tour date throughout the year.

Kerbside parking is limited to a maximum of two hours. It is suggested that you use a parking building. West End (enter off Cashel St –between Montreal St and Bridge of Remembrance) or Christchurch Art Gallery (enter off Gloucester St –near Montreal St corner) are the closest two buildings.

There is also paid parking available in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens (enter off Rolleston Ave at Armagh St entry to Gardens).

You should arrive at The Arts Centre’s Clock Tower at least 10 minutes before the tour commenses.
